I rest my case.)<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Social media posts with graphics create more engagement than text-only posts, proving the old adage that \u201ca picture is worth a thousand words.\u201d According to HubSpot, Facebook posts that have images average <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hubspot.com\/marketing\/visual-content-marketing-strategy\">twice as much engagement<\/a> as Facebook posts without images. And according to Adweek, tweets with graphics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/performance-marketing\/twitter-images-study\/\">enjoy 150% more retweets<\/a> (and 18% more clicks) than tweets that don\u2019t have graphics.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>So, make sure that your social media posts always include relevant infographics, photographs, and portraits of your credit union family. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.creditunions.com\/articles\/3-ways-to-build-connections-through-social-media\/\">CreditUnions.com<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veridiancu.org\/\">Veridian Credit Union<\/a> in Iowa pays for professional headshots of its employees to use in their social media posts.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Which brings us to the next tip\u2026<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h2>Share real stories from real credit union employees<\/h2>\n<p>Veridian Credit Union has been using social media to introduce new employees and share staff milestones since 2016. For example, Veridian will use Facebook posts to celebrate an employee\u2019s work anniversary, share fun photos from a work event, or even highlight a woman leader during Women\u2019s History Month.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Sarah Corkery, Veridian\u2019s Vice President of Marketing, says that these employee-centric posts have nearly double the reach of the credit union\u2019s promotional posts.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe have almost 25,000 followers,\u201d Corkery tells CreditUnions.com. \u201cOur loan promotions and other product posts reach about 1,000 users on average.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Social media posts that highlight employees are nearly twice as popular, though, with one post surpassing 4,000 users.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s all about being authentic,\u201d Corkery says. \u201cWe want to celebrate our culture and showcase real things on social media.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>At the same time, though, Veridian respects their employees\u2019 privacy by not personally tagging them in posts. They also avoid putting pressure on employees to participate, ensuring it\u2019s done on a purely voluntary basis.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Corkery recommends that other credit unions follow their lead by talking to their employees, inviting them to participate in social media posts, and embracing creativity.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h2>Don\u2019t post with an \u201cAlways Be Closing\u201d mindset<\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019ve ever seen the classic movie Glengarry Glen Ross, you\u2019re no doubt familiar with the ABCs of sales: Always Be Closing.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Social media managers with a salesperson\u2019s attitude may be tempted to try and include a CTA in every post. However, that would be a mistake. Your credit union\u2019s social media presence shouldn\u2019t be consumed with social advertising\u2014people tend to ignore ads when they\u2019re scrolling through their Twitter or Instagram feed. So it\u2019s best to focus most of your efforts on the \u201cBig 5\u201d social media platforms, rather than invest too much time in chasing the hot new trends.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h2>Pay for promotion<\/h2>\n<p>The downside of Instagram and Facebook\u2019s popularity is that you really must fight hard for people\u2019s attentions when posting on such crowded platforms. And often, you need to invest some money if you really want to get some eyeballs on your social media content.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Organic reach has declined in recent years, as most social media platforms <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hootsuite.com\/organic-reach-declining\/\">increasingly rely<\/a> on a pay-to-play model to generate revenue. So if you want to increase the reach of your social media posts, you\u2019ll have to invest some of your budget in paying for promotion. Even paying a relatively small amount can dramatically improve the visibility of your social media posts.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h2>Give some stuff away<\/h2>\n<p>Another effective way to increase engagement and get more followers?
