Phil approaches recruitment in the same way. \u201cI\u2019m strategic, ensuring I\u2019m as transparent and responsive as possible,\u201d Phil goes on to add. \u201cWe\u2019re collaborative here, everyone working together, and we believe in everyone\u2019s success. I want to be the same way for my candidates, in their corner from the first communication.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Phil remembers his own hiring process for Sogo, recalling, \u201cEverybody I spoke to was honest and sincere, they were clear on the needs and what would be the driving force behind my position.\u201d Phil keeps that same philosophy as our Recruitment Specialist. \u201cWe can\u2019t hire everyone we speak to, as much as I\u2019d love to, but I still want to make sure they walk away with a positive outlook from interactions with me.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-spacer\"><\/div>\n<h2>Focusing on the Candidates<\/h2>\n<p>When asked what sort of candidates he\u2019s looking to bring into Sogo, Phil shared his views. \u201cThey need to be customer-centric and focused on seeing the big picture. Our clients are important to us, and we strive to not only identify their pain points, but also provide the solutions they need.\u201d We\u2019re looking for candidates with drive and ambition, but who also clearly care, can communicate effectively, and love learning.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>For Phil, it\u2019s about more than matching an applicant to their job responsibilities, it\u2019s also about considering the needs of both the company and the candidate. \u201cA great match is when I see that we can develop professionally and grow business, together.\u201d In fact, Phil likes to advise candidates to not be \u201cgatekeeps of themselves\u201d, but trying to stretch their professional horizons instead. In his own position, Phil uses the Sogo platform to help him keep track of data and learn from candidates\u2019 experiences.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe just came out of intense training with our VP of Success, and I really love how we\u2019re always doing more. I try to wake up between 5 and 5:15 am every day. Those first few hours in the morning are so quiet and peaceful. With the chickens, I have to [get up that early] anyway.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p><em><strong>Speaking of chickens, how many do you have?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>18. We ordered 15 originally, but got a few extra and they are really growing well and laying eggs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p><strong><em>What was your favorite subject in school?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>I like history. You know, there\u2019s a lot that we can learn with history.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p><em><strong>One question that should never be asked in an interview.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Stay away from politics! But, no, I\u2019d say don\u2019t ask questions you can research on your own. Show that initiative.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p><em><strong>What is your favorite book?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Where the Red Fern Grows. It was the first novel I ever read, and it really captivated my interest in books.<\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p><em><strong>Should candidates reach out to you on LinkedIn?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"div-minispacer\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/phillip-p2002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yes<\/a>.
