                                    Auto Save

Since time is valuable and every response matters, the Auto Save feature helps ensure that participant data is not lost. When a participant remains idle on a survey page for more than five minutes and then abandons the survey, their responses are automatically saved with the help of this feature.

Auto Save is enabled by default for all Enterprise accounts. For other plans, please refer to the complete feature list for availability details.

Auto Save is especially useful for longer surveys, where participants may need additional time to respond. It preserves previously answered questions and prevents data loss due to inactivity or session timeouts.

                                    This feature applies to:

                                    • Single-use link (Email Invites, SMS, Survey Passwords)
                                    • Multi-use link (Email Invites, Shareable URLs)

                                    How Auto Save Works

During a participation session, if a participant is inactive for five minutes, an Auto Save loader appears on the screen indicating that partial responses are being saved.

The responses are first saved locally on the participant’s browser. Once backend processing for Auto Save is complete, the saved responses begin reflecting under Track within one hour from the time the Auto Save loader appears.

                                    Auto Save for Single-Use Invitations

For Single-Use Links, if a participant remains idle on a survey page for more than five minutes and then abandons the survey, their responses are first saved locally on the participant’s end. Once the Auto Save function completes backend processing of these locally saved responses, these responses begin appearing under Track within one hour of the Auto Save loader being displayed.

For Single-Use Links, the participant can resume the survey using the same participation link and continue from where they left off, even if they access the survey from a different browser or device.

Auto Save for Multi-Use Invitations and Shareable URLs

For Multi-Use Links, if a participant remains idle for more than five minutes and abandons the survey, their responses are first saved locally in the same browser and device used to access the survey. After the Auto Save function completes backend processing of these locally saved responses, these responses begin appearing under Track within one hour of the Auto Save loader being displayed.

For Multi-Use LinksThe participant can resume the survey only by using the same browser and device. If the survey is accessed from a different browser or device, the participant must start the survey from the beginning.

                                    Important Note on Multi-Use Links

When using a Multi-Use link with a defined response limit, the limit is evaluated only based on responses that are visible under Track. If the Auto Save function has not yet completed processing the locally saved responses, those responses will not appear under Track and therefore will not be counted toward the response limit.

As a result, if multiple participation attempts occur before the Auto Save process is completed, each attempt will be recorded as a separate response under Track once processing is finished. This may cause the total number of recorded responses to exceed the configured response limit for the Multi-Use link.

                                    For example:
A participant starts a survey using a Multi-Use Invite and remains idle for more than five minutes before abandoning the survey. The response is saved locally but has not yet been processed to appear under Track. Before the Auto Save processing is completed, the participant accesses the same Multi-Use link again from a different browser and starts another attempt. Since the first response is not yet visible under Track and has not been counted toward the response limit, the system allows the new attempt. Once Auto Save processing is completed, both attempts appear under Track as separate responses, resulting in the total response count exceeding the configured limit.

Auto Save Behavior with Blocked by Cookie or Blocked by IP (Multi-Use Links)

The same behavior applies when Blocked by Cookie or Blocked by IP restrictions are enabled. These restrictions are enforced only on responses that are already visible under Track.

If a participant accesses a survey link with either of these restrictions enabled, remains idle, and drops out of the survey, the response is first saved locally and will not appear under Track until the Auto Save process is completed.

If the participant attempts to access the same survey link again from the same browser or IP address before the Auto Save processing is finished, they will be able to submit a new response. Ideally, the participant should be restricted from doing so.
However, since the initial attempt was saved locally and has not yet been processed by the Auto Save function,
any additional attempts made before processing is completed will be recorded as separate responses under Track once Auto Save is completed.

As a result, multiple responses from the same browser or IP address may appear under Track,
despite the Blocked by Cookie or Blocked by IP restrictions being enabled.

By default, Auto Save is disabled on Assessments.
