Whether it\u2019s on a whiteboard or onscreen, it helps to have a plan!<\/p>\n<p id=\"section-1\">To apply Multi-Question Branching, follow the steps below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li>Create a new project or select a project to edit.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"sogo-help-info-box\"><i class=\"fal fa-info-circle\"><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"sogo-info-text\">Branching cannot be applied to a one-page project or to the last page of your project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>Select Multi-Question Branching by clicking on Logic in the Design menu bar. A pop-up window will appear, displaying all the pages of your project.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/R30.4.01.png\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Expand the page on which you want to apply Multi-Question Branching.<\/li>\n<li>To set a rule, select the appropriate question under the Select Question dropdown.\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Only questions from the current or previous pages will be available here.<\/li>\n<li>You cannot apply Multi-Question Branching to a Descriptive Text.<\/li>\n<li>For multilingual projects, select &#8216;Participation language&#8217; from the dropdown to set rules based on the participant&#8217;s chosen language.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Next, set the condition. Available conditions vary based on the question type of the selected question.\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li><strong>Close-Ended Questions:<\/strong>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: lower-roman;\">\n<li>is one of the following<\/li>\n<li>is not one of the following<\/li>\n<li>is not answered<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Open-Ended Questions:<\/strong>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: lower-roman;\">\n<li>Contains<\/li>\n<li>Does not contain<\/li>\n<li>starts with<\/li>\n<li>is answered<\/li>\n<li>is not answered<\/li>\n<li>is exactly one of the following<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<li>Once you select any one of these conditions, a set of answer options will be displayed. Select at least one of these answer options to complete your first condition, A1.<\/li>\n<li>Choose to add more conditions (A2, etc.) by clicking on the Add Condition button and following the same steps.<\/li>\n<li>Under \u2018Define the rule by choosing the logic and outcome for the condition(s) above.\u2019 section set your rule.\n<ul>\n<li>Choose <strong>&#8216;All&#8217;<\/strong> if all conditions needs to be satisfied to execute this rule. This is the AND logic.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>&#8216;Any&#8217;<\/strong> if any one of the conditions needs to be satisfied to execute this rule. This is the OR logic.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>&#8216;Custom&#8217;<\/strong> to write your own logic. Eg:A1 AND A2 OR A3.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Then, specify which page you want the participants to route to in the dropdown list beside \u2018Then Go To Page\u2019 section.<\/li>\n<li>Save your changes by clicking on the Save or the Save &amp; Return button.<\/li>\n<li>Preview your project to test your branching.<\/li>\n<li>If you need to delete a branching rule, click on the Delete icon in the top right-hand corner of the rule.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"example-block-container blue-shade\">\n        <span class=\"example-block-content\"><span class=\"example-block-header\">For example:<\/span> See these Multi-Question Branching rules below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rule 1:<\/strong> If a participant selects Sales as department and years as 1-4 years, then skip to Page 4 (which displays all sales-related questions).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/DE20.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rule 2: <\/strong>A participant whose chosen language is Spanish continues from Page 1 to Page 5 to answer questions specifically designed for those responding in Spanish.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/MQB2.png\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Rule 3:\u00a0<\/strong>If none of the options are selected, then End &amp; Exit the participant from the survey or assessment.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/TT14.png\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span>\n  <\/div>\n<div class=\"sogo-help-info-box\"><i class=\"fal fa-info-circle\"><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"sogo-info-text\">You can add up to 10 rules per page and 50 conditions per rule.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"section-2\">End &amp; Exit<\/h2>\n<p>While setting up logic, use End and Exit to finish the survey or assessment on a particular page based on participants\u2019 answers. Used with Multi-Question Branching, this option exits participants from the survey based on their answers to multiple questions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"example-block-container blue-shade\">\n        <span class=\"example-block-content\"><span class=\"example-block-header\">For example:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>While a certain set of questions may be core to all employees, you may want to ask experienced employees in a certain department a few additional questions. In this case, you might choose to have those who select \u2018Herndon Heights\u2019 as their location and \u20185-10 years\u2019 as their time on the job continue to the end of the survey, and to have everyone else exit the survey earlier.<br \/>\n<\/span>\n  <\/div>\n<p>Here\u2019s how to use End &amp; Exit with Multi-Question Branching:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select Multi-Question Branching by clicking on Logic in the Design menu bar.
