How Does a Personalized Approach Boost Your LinkedIn Response Rate?

Not that long ago, in the early days of using LinkedIn as an important sales tool, people weren’t too focused on personalization. Those days, personalizing your approach was viewed as unnecessary and even as a waste of time. Oh, how times have changed!

Nowadays, people are coming to realize that a more in-depth, personalized approach is absolutely needed to get ahead of the competition. Making sure your message gets to the right people is essential, but creating it in a way that will spark interest is a must.

As with surveys, response rate is the name of the game, and boosting it is a challenge. Once you crack that code and establish your own flow, you will be on the fast track to LinkedIn success!

Why personalization matters

With the amount of content that’s being produced today, catching someone’s attention long enough to convert is becoming an increasingly challenging task. Luckily for all of us, personalization might be a solution for this challenge.

In the small number of studies that have been done so far on the effect of personalization, there have been some encouraging findings. One study found that people prefer a customer-centric approach even when they’re aware it’s happening, mostly because it gives them a feeling of control and reduces information overload. Another study found that personalization can drive customer loyalty.

So, it stands to reason that implementing a more personalized approach to your LinkedIn outreach strategy can improve your response rate.

Identifying your target audience

The first step towards advanced personalization is to identify who you’re talking to. This is a crucial step, as it guides your whole strategy. Each of your messages needs to be tailored to your audience’s interests and needs.

The anticipation of needs is a key feature that has really been developed during the last few years, so much so that it has become a necessity in these digital times. 

More importantly, personalization helps boost your response rate because it develops trust between the parties involved. Your targeted audience is more likely to respond positively if you offer them something interesting and worth their time. Hence, they will view you as a trustworthy source and a potentially viable business lead.

A personalized experience provided for your customers can go a long way, urging them to commit to your message, and keep your brand top of mind. This approach uses human emotions as building blocks to a successful partnership, which is why more and more companies and individuals are viewing a personalized strategy as a must. 

Boost your LinkedIn response rate

Once you gather enough potential leads and your target audience starts to grow, you’ll notice it’s difficult to reach all of these leads with a personal message or connection request without wasting a lot of time. Instead, using automation tools can make every single step of the outreach process easier and more efficient.

Targeting and personalized content working together

As established, a strong outreach strategy relies on two things: a deep understanding of your target audience and authentic messages that drive the conversation forward. For example, consider this use case with Expandi – a cloud-based LinkedIn automation tool.

First, we identified a Facebook group filled with professionals from the industry we’re targeting. Then, we used the Facebook Group Extractor API from Phantombuster to scrape the members from this group. After that, we used Phantombuster’s other API – LinkedIn URL finder – to find their LinkedIn profiles.

The final step was to upload this list of contacts in Expandi and launch a personalized connections campaign targeting these leads.

The results?

We achieved a 72% Acceptance Rate, 49% Response Rate on follow-ups, and 42 total demos booked! That’s what we like to call a good LinkedIn outreach campaign.

And that’s just after the first campaign. Once you start analyzing your results and testing different approaches, you’ll see that your results can get even better!

Final word

The importance of personalizing your outreach cannot be overstated, especially in these digital times when everything and everyone moves fast. If you are trying to develop or optimize your business, anything less than the best will be a waste of your precious time. 

With the help of the right tools, your personalized message can reach its target audience with ease and almost guarantee you will get a potentially satisfying boost to your response rate.
