Why Learning & Development Teams Need More Than Just an LMS

When organizations invest in Learning & Development (L&D), they often prioritize the implementation of a Learning Management System (LMS). These platforms provide a centralized space for creating, managing, and delivering training content—a critical component for any company striving to upskill its workforce. However, as valuable as an LMS is, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution for L&D needs.

For L&D teams to demonstrate real impact, they must go beyond content delivery. They need robust tools that provide insights into the effectiveness of their strategies and quantify how those efforts drive meaningful business outcomes. Here’s why combining an LMS with a powerful employee survey platform can help Learning & Development teams — and the businesses they support — reach their full potential.

The limitations of an LMS

An LMS is excellent for housing training materials, tracking course completions, and monitoring participation. However, it doesn’t offer much insight into the effectiveness of training programs. Here are some common gaps:
